Ahh! The leaves are changing and the air is crisp! We’ve had quite a few days of bright blue skies and fabulous fall aromas! Perhaps you’ve been apple picking or you’ve picked up your first butternet squash at the farmers market. Maybe you’ve taken the kids or grandkids on a hayride! We’re all in the Autumn mindset and here at Quilter’s Compass, that’s just fine with us!
To us, Fall is for quilting. Of course, it’s for other things, too. Packer and Badger games, fresh apples straight from the farm, carving pumpkins, sweatshirts and sweaters, flames gracing the fireplace, and cozying up under warm quilts.
We want to take this opportunity to showcase some of our latest Autumn-related fabrics and projects that just really get our quilting juices going. The level of creativity here at the shop is never lacking, but it’s especially prevalent during this time of year. So without further ado, please enjoy some of our current favorite fall things!
We love these little placemats. They’ve got so much going for them that it’s difficult to dislike them, really. They’re quilt-as-you-go, so there’s no stitching in the ditch, they don’t waste fabric, they’re beautiful, but perhaps most importantly, they’re FAST!
At $5 each, the patterns for these placemats are a steal and we love the idea of using the same fabric to make a set of a few different patterns of placemats and mixing and matching them! That way, you’d have coordinated placemats of different styles on your table! How fun!
This is a given. However, that doesn’t mean we can’t show you pretty pictures of wonderful fall fabrics! Fall fabric makes everyone think of crisp, cool fall evenings, snuggling under quilts.
Few things scream “Flannel!” like Fall, Winter or lumberjacks. As we don’t have too many lumberjacks wandering around these parts and it’s not yet time for Winter, we’ll take some flannel with our fall, please! We recently received new Woolies from Maywood Studio. This line of flannel has become very popular, in part because of the incredible texture and quality, but also because of the great, classic patterns we all think of when we think of flannel – herringbone, guitar string, plaid, tweed…
So that’s the latest in what’s got us excited about fall quilting. Be sure to let us know what you’re most looking forward to this fall! We hope to see you in the shop soon!
