Directions to Quilters' Compass
FROM BOSTON
Southeast Expressway, Rte. 93 South to Exit 12, Neponset. At the bottom of the ramp, stay in the right lane, and cross under expressway. Take a right onto the Neponset River Bridge, stay to the right. Take first exit off bridge to Hancock Street (Rte. 3A). Stay straight on Hancock St. all the way into Quincy Center, about 2.5 miles. Once you go past the Quincy Center T stop (on right), then the Church of the Presidents (on left), stay straight on Hancock, but stay toward the left approaching the Bank of America/Granite Trust building in the middle of the square (large building with flagpole on top). At the next light (in front of the bank), go to the left of the bank building onto Chestnut Street. Go past Cottage Ave., and take a right into the Municipal parking lot. Take your first right in the lot and look for the Quilters' Compass awning ahead to the right.
FROM THE SOUTH SHORE
From Route 3 Braintree, take Exit 19 Burgin Parkway past Quincy Adams T station toward Quincy. At the fifth set of lights (after Star Market on the left) take a right on to Granite Street. Stay in the center lane. At the next light (Hancock St.) bear toward the left, go past the Bank of America/Granite Trust building (large building with flag on top), and go right onto Chestnut Street. Go past Cottage Ave., and take a right into Municipal parking lot. Take your first right in the lot and look for the Quilters' Compass awning ahead to the right.
FROM ROUTE 128 South/93 North (Dedham/Canton)
Take Route 128 South past the South Shore Plaza, stay toward the right at the split. Take Exit 18 toward Quincy, and Quincy Adams T Station onto Burgin Parkway. At the fifth set of lights (after Star Market on your left) take a right onto Granite Street. Stay in the center lane. A the next light (Hancock St.) bear toward the left, going past the Bank of America/Granite Trust building (large building with flag on top), and go right onto Chestnut Street. Go past Cottage Ave., and take a right into the Municipal Parking lot. Take your first right in the lot and look for the Quilters' Compass awning ahead to the right.
VIA MBTA
Take any Red Line Braintree-bound train to Quincy Center. Exit the station to Hancock Street. On Hancock Street, look to your right and you'll see a large granite building with US flag on top (Bank of America/Granite Trust building). Go toward this building and walk down the street adjacent to the left side of the bank building, Chestnut Street. Cross Cottage Avenue at Kelly's Restaurant (try the fried clams!), walking to the left of the restaurant until you come to the Municipal Parking lot behind it. Take an immediate right behind Kelly's and Quilters' Compass will be 50 yards on your right.
Located in historic Quincy, Massachusetts, pronounced Quin'-zee (Quin'-see is in Illinois.), the home of our second president, John Adams, and his son, president John Quincy Adams. Quincy is best known as the site of the first railroad in the United States, the Granite Railway, the source of Quincy Granite, used to build many important buildings in the 19th century, and shipbuilding at the Fore River Shipyard.
